When your cat does fitness

Cats are prey animals. They used to the movement. With domestication, the little cats borrowed from human habits. At present, we and our cats are making less and less movement. We prefer a sedentary lifestyle. But when your cat does fitness the benefits to her health is immense.

How important is movement and how to keep your cat fit, you will find out today. Unlike us, people, cats love to move. When your cat does fitness, you can see their behavior in the yard. Jump, run, retreat, simulate the fight. Did you know that a cat can jump two to three times larger than her waist? Can it move as fast vertically or horizontally? Can he perform aerial figures worthy of real gyms?

The sense of balance

The inner ear, the body that regulates the sense of balance, is responsible for the acrobatic ability of your cat. The cat is a perfect hunter, thanks to this incredible movement ability. It is capable of climbing on almost vertical surfaces. He can make big jumps both in length and height. You can walk without any hesitation on very narrow surfaces. This ability depends on the sense of balance. In cats, the movements of the head, eyes and muscles of the body are partially reflexes. More complex movements are under the direct control of the brain.

Did you know that the cat’s brain is 90% like ours?

Even if it is a real leap, the cat may still have trouble getting down. They execute them with the help of previous members. Pass with great caution and keep your head up.

I remember my first cat, Jessie. At first, she lived only in the house. Later I walked her in the park. But first I did some climbing exercises in the house, with an ironing board, until she learned to descend. Then we went out together. Without ham. But she was a very clever cat and she was following us like a dog. I’ve never had any problems with it.

Movements

Cat movements coincide with its hunting nature. Especially when tracking fast-moving prey. His body must thus be able to speed up at high speed. It builds quickly from where it is. Respond promptly. The movement must be silent. Thus, the cat can attack the prey without hearing. For this purpose, the little feline must also be able to make athletic leaps. It saves energy given the final act. They move their limbs somewhat diagonally. The left posterior limb, then the right anterior limb and the right posterior limb, followed by the left anterior limb. The members do not move simultaneously. The posterior ones, however, move slightly, anticipating the movement of the previous ones.

The center of gravity located towards the head. The anterior limbs support the body structure and exert a slightly delayed effect. The cat goes on the tip of his fingers. This is an ideal anatomical configuration for running. The cat that gives up the movement lost! Especially at old age, the movement is fundamental for the health of the bone joints and its mental vivacity.

You do not have to let your cat lie down on her favorite day. Laziness is just a bad habit. From time to time you have to lure her, stimulating her desire to play. Remember that your feline is a hunting animal. In the absence of leeks, small balls or moving toys are the favorites of cats.

Here you can see a lot of offers that will satisfy your cat.

Don’t forget the lasers. A laser pointer can provide endless entertainment and, yes, exercise, as your cat chases it.

Playing sessions

Most cats want to practice physical activity. The movement is “inscribed” in their genetic code. You have an apartment cat. It recommended organizing play sessions periodically. It is useless to offer him 30 minutes of aerobic competition level. Cats are so “built” that they can practice intense activities for a short time. After that, they must rest.

A first recommendation is to turn the exercises into play sessions. If you take this into account, your cat will be truly happy. The benefits of this type of sport are manifold. You have the opportunity to spend quality time in the company of your soul animal. The closeness between you will strengthen the relationship.

On the market, you have a wide range of toys. They come in all shapes and colors. Thus, you stimulate her to play and arouse her hunter instinct. Play with a teezer-like toy, which you can move in such a way as to encourage the cat to jump and retreat. Or you can choose toys that look like a mouse. Or they shaped like obstacle races. They designed to stimulate balance and coordination. You can also orient yourself to toys in tunnel forms.

It is also important to change toys from time to time. Cats are curious about threads but they get bored with the same toys.

You can opt for a play tree or a multi functional assembly. The last two have the added advantage of protecting your furniture from cat scratches. On these, your cat can sharpen his claws.

Don’t forget to have fun together. If you move you will feel better and you and the cat. The health benefits are well-known to both you and your little feline.

In the US, a cat fitness program is raging. This helps the owner to lose weight because it has a more passive role. The little feline can serve instead of weight. For sculpting the biceps it can make the abdomen more difficult, more demanding and therefore more beneficial.

The one who made cat fitness an art is Tara Brown. She noticed that her pet didn’t want to leave her alone even when she wanted to do her physical exercises. Catflexing seems to be a tradition in the Brown family, Tara’s mother also releasing a book on this topic, in 1997.

Little diplomacy

It said that sedentary people have cats as well. They are masters who adopt an adorable lively kitten. But they immediately try to correct his behavior, practically hiding his energy. The kitten punished if it hangs from the curtains or if it climbs on the table. The owner only plays with him very rarely. We should not surprise that, over time, the kitten becomes very lazy.

You have to allow the cat to do as much movement throughout the day. You can’t often take her for a walk, on the leash. But you can act with diplomacy while staying home with the cat. You can very well turn daily exercises into play.

Many times it is necessary to ask the opinion of the veterinarian before putting your cat to work. Especially if she has problems with weight. Overweight cats often have adjacent health problems. These can be osteoarthritis, heart problems, etc. That’s why you have to make sure everything goes well from the first moment.

I have several cats but they are free to do what they want. I gave up the curtains after dusting them. I replaced them with the so-called “ tomcats” (some thicker fringes, also). And I took their sisal s. After a while they also destroyed them, so I ordered some more solid sisal s, with room for each.

They play together and none are obese.

When Nothing Goes

Some cats are so lazy that they won’t want to play. If this is the case with your cat, it is useless to insist that way. You will have to change tactics. Even the laziest kitten in the world will go to work for food. You just have to place a reward in a more difficult place. This forces the cat to move to reach it. Place small portions of food in different corners of the house. At the top of the tree for cats, in the basement of the house or under the sofa is very good. The quantity must be much smaller than a normal meal.

Thus, your lazy companion will have to move almost all day.

Finally, as a last resort, you can still adopt a cat. From a shelter is ideal. Shoot two rabbits at once. The new cat will be very grateful that you saved it. Your cat will no longer be lazy. The two cats will have common activities. They will be able to spend their time together. And very important: they will not suffer when you are not at home, they will practically not miss you.

If you keep these recommendations in mind, you will have a healthy, lively and healthy cat. In a word, you will have a happy cat.

Conclusion

For your cat to follow the “genetic code” you must give him the possibility to move. Whether you stay in an apartment or at home. I have endeavored to make certain recommendations. If you consider them, they will be beneficial for both your cat and you. A cat indeed changes your life. Fortunately for good.

I’m a big cat loving, since the young baby.   My mother was great loving cats, grandmother as well.   My daughter is coming to the end. My daughter loves cats so much that she makes a second faculty: veterinary medicine.   Four generations, what do you think?

You can now learn to communicate directly with your cat.

  1. I think it is well known that cats are very active and independent animals, having a cat is a great responsibility because they require being active all the time, and I think that with this article many people will be able to better understand our precious and at the same time so mysterious cats.

  2. I had never considered the notion of having to exercise a cat, so this is very interesting to me. I always thought cats are so nimble and do their stretching and jumping, without having to be encouraged or taken out to do it. Cats have such a perfect sense of balance and you see them perched on spots where you wonder how did they get there. I looks to me as if it might be good for me to follow the movements of the cat to get fit!

  3. I think having toys and playing sessions is definitely gonna make exercise more fun for the cat and for the owner. Also I think it’s important to switch up the toys every now and then so it doesn’t get too boring. I used to have a little mice on a string to swing around my cat, but I think eventually he got bored with it. Then I got some new toys and the fun continued again. So mixing it up is very important.

    1. Thank you for your comment. You have very well understood the need to change toys. I failed to say this in the article but I will add. Cats are curious and that’s why it’s good to change toys from time to time.

I must tell you I am astonished as I  knew an animal coud be so sensible as to have fitness routines of its own… I would put my eyes on them from time to time.

    1. Hi David.

Thank you for your comment. I’m glad you found this article helpful for you. I hope that from now on you will take the necessary measures to spend quality time with your cats. Especially during this period when I gave up other activities outside the house.

  5. Greetings!  We love our cats.  They have been through a difficult time over the past 5 months.  Things are much better now, but initially they did not like the new dog we introduce them to.  I am so glad they are getting along better now, and it has taken a lot of work.  I really enjoyed reading all of your suggestions, and I had no idea that the cats brain was so similar to our own.  That is amazing.  I always jokingly referred to them as looking at us like a meal… All of our pets are rescues, and one of the cats has a clipped ear..which indicates he was once feral.  He is actually the of the loveliest nature and is my favorite.  I am going to share this post with my wife and daughter..I know they will learn something new from reading it.  Thank you!

Your article is really educational and I gained a lot of information by analysis your article which is very beneficial to me. I never measured the idea of taking to exercise a cat, so this is very fascinating to me. I always believed cats are so quick and do their extending and skipping, without taking to be stimulated or engaged out to do it.

  8. The first i want to do is try to share this great article with some of my friends. The website is really nice. and i have learnt something tangible from this well detailed article on cats fitness. my cat stayed hidden for the first few weeks and there was no movement. i just recently noticed the desire to move around the house.

  9. Watching that video was so much fun. A picture is worth a thousand words, and I guess a video is worth so much more, perhaps 10,000 words. I used to live on a hobby farm where we had horses and something like 25 cats. They mostly lived in the barn, but they were always invited indoors. When they’d come in, they would climb up the walls trying to get outside. They loved roaming the countryside, killing small rodent animals, and keeping fit. They got a lot of love from us, I can tell you. Cats thrive on love and exercise. So your article brought back a lot of memory for me. Thank you.

    1. Thanks for the comment Joss. I’m glad that my article evoked beautiful memories. If treated well, cats always offer unconditional love. Only those who do not know them do not know this.
